OUR SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM
Sustainability

Bedding and towels to save water, energy, and chemicals.

Your linnen is not changed daily, but you can decide for yourself. There is a bell on your nightstand; if you wish to have your bed linen changed, please place it on your pillow. If your towels are in the bathtub, they will be replaced with fresh ones.

———

Soaps, shampoos, and their containers are transformed into life-saving products through the non-profit organization SapoCycle. The soaps are recycled by individuals with disabilities and then distributed to improve the hygiene conditions of families in need.

———

Reduced and proper use of chemical products and detergents.

Supply chains and waste reduction

We collaborate with suppliers and partners who prioritize sustainability.

———

We consider the origin, packaging, and delivery routes of products and purchase regionally and nationally when possible.

———

We are committed to consistently minimizing our environmental impact. This commitment is evident in our initiatives such as replacing plastic room keys with wooden ones and adopting plastic-free disposable items in our restaurants.

———

We consistently recycle paper, glass, PET, plastic containers, aluminum, metal, lightbulbs, electrical materials, and batteries. We kindly request that you properly dispose of the PET bottle you received upon your departure to ensure it is recycled in an environmentally responsible manner.

Food & Food Waste

Our vegetarian and vegan options are continuously expanding, with particular emphasis on the exquisite 9-course vegan menu available at our gourmet restaurant “Radius by Stefan Beer.”

———

Swiss mineral water or Interlaken water is available upon request.

———

On our hotel grounds, a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and berries, as well as herbs, thrive, which are incorporated into numerous dishes and beverages.

———

We look after our own bee hives for honey production.

———

We procure coffee from a certified supply chain.

———

Food waste is turned into biogas, and green waste from our florists is composted.

Traffic and arrival

To reduce your ecological footprint, we recommend using public transportation for your arrival. Hotel guests will receive a complimentary ticket for the use of public transportation within the Libero Local Zone 750, which includes the route from Iseltwald, Saxeten, Niederried, to Beatenbucht.

State of the art technology

Conventional light bulbs are constantly being replaced by LED technology.

———

To conserve energy and enhance security, we reduce hotel lighting during the night and have installed motion sensors.

———

We utilize an advanced and automated ventilation control system that also incorporates heat retention capabilities.

———

Our air conditioning system is set to maintain an approximate 5°C temperature difference from the outside, and we use shutters and awnings to shield against heat radiation during the summer.

———

We prioritize digitalization to make your stay even more enjoyable. As a result, you will find guest information and the room service menu available exclusively in digital formats.

Team Awareness

The “Green Committee” at the Victoria-Jungfrau Grandhotel & Spa is actively engaged in sensitizing our employees to environmental awareness and responsibility.

Responsible corporate leadership

The IL SOGNO DELLA SPERANZA winery annually produces approximately 3,000 bottles of “L’Incontro,” with the entire net profit being channeled into various charitable projects worldwide. For every bottle of “L’Incontro” sold, we additionally contribute CHF 25 to the organization.

———

For every Mille Feuille sold at La Terrasse Brasserie, and every Panna Cotta served at Ristorante e Pizzeria Sapori, we proudly donate CHF 1 to support the Genolier Foundation.

———

At our VJ-Shop, we offer a diverse selection of sustainable, locally sourced products. Additionally, several of these items provide support to various foundations and environmental organizations through charitable contributions.

Swiss Tourism Sustainability Program

Our corporate philosophy is founded on a strong commitment to sustainable development, where we actively contribute to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Federal Council’s 2050 sustainability strategy. In all our decision-making processes, we prioritize environmental, social, and economic considerations.

We continue to learn every day and welcome your input and feedback.
